① Gently move to avoid damaging teeth. Insert the catheter when the glottis is open, avoiding the catheter touching the glottis to protect the glottis, posterior mucosa, and reduce the occurrence of laryngeal edema.
② Prevent tooth loss and aspiration. Before surgery, the patient should be checked for dentures and loose teeth, which should be removed or removed to avoid injury or accidental dislodgement during intubation, causing suffocation and endangering life.
③ Prevent the airbag from slipping. If the airbag is fixed on the catheter, it generally will not slip off. But if the catheter is separated from the balloon, a balloon that matches the catheter should be selected and tied to the catheter with silk thread to prevent it from slipping into the airway and causing serious consequences.
④ Check the position of the catheter. After general tracheal intubation or mechanical ventilation, routine bedside X-ray examination should be performed to determine the position of the catheter.
⑤ Prevent intubation accidents. During endotracheal intubation, especially when the epiglottis is provoked, the vagus nerve reflex may cause respiratory and cardiac arrest in patients, especially in critically ill patients or those with severe hypoxia or heart failure. Therefore, before intubation, it is necessary to explain clearly to the patient's family, obtain understanding and cooperation. During intubation, sufficient oxygen should be administered and monitored, and emergency medicine and equipment should be prepared.
